Manchester United have announced on their official website that young striker James Wilson has signed a new contract with the Old Trafford club that extends until 2019.
The 19-year-old is widely acknowledged as one of the brightest young prospects in the Red Devils’ ranks, with the centre forward tipped to have an exciting future in the game.
Despite the fact that Wilson has slipped behind the likes of Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial in Louis van Gaal’s pecking order for the number nine berth, the Englishman has opted to extend his Old Trafford stay.
The gifted attacker has been on the club’s books since the age of seven and has made 18 first-team appearances so far, scoring four goals in the process.
Wilson’s immediate future still remains unclear however, with scope for the young striker to head out on loan for the remainder of the season in a bid to receive more regular first-team football.
