Manchester United starlet Guillermo Varela is being considered by Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez to feature for the senior international team, Daily Mail reports.
The 22-year-old was a fringe player earlier in the campaign, but has now proved his worth to manager Louis van Gaal after he was brought in due to a host of injury problems in the squad.
He was recently praised for his performance in the 3-2 win over rivals Arsenal last weekend and also featured the full 90 minutes during the 1-0 victory over Watford last night.
Tabarez has a number of injury concerns with the international team and could now call-up the right-back for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Peru.
The defender almost left the club during the January window following interest from Serie A outfits Genoa, but Van Gaal refused to let him leave.
He has already featured eight times since being brought into the senior squad and has so far managed to provide one assist in the process.
