Manchester United’s players have the combined belief that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone will be the man to replace Louis van Gaal at the club, The Sun report.
The Dutch trainer is under incredible pressure after a poor run of form saw the Red Devils drop out of the Premier League’s top four and be eliminated from the Champions League.
Rumblings in the press suggest that the Old Trafford hierarchy are considering cutting Van Gaal’s time at the club short, with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich trainer under contract until the summer of 2017.
Simeone, who has also been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, has revitalised Atletico’s fortunes over the last couple of seasons.
The Argentine led the Vicente Calderon outfit to an unlikely La Liga title in 2013-14 and also took his team to the final of the Champions League.
With Atleti fighting for the Spanish title again this term, Simeone is one of the most in-demand coaches in world football.
The report suggests that the United players are expecting him to arrive at Old Trafford – either soon or in the summer.
