Manchester United are closing in on the services of Porto’s Rolando, who is currently on loan at Anderlecht, according to reports from the Express.
United boss Louis van Gaal is currently in the market to reinforce his backline, with the 29-year-old being seen as a cheaper option to Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels.
The two mentioned players are believed to cost around the £30million region, while the defensive pair are also being tracked by a number of other clubs.
Van Gaal’s side are said to have already negotiated the terms of a potential switch, and could link up with the Old Trafford club once he completes his loan with Belgium outfits Anderlecht.
The Portuguese defender only completed his move in Febuary, making eight appearances, but will return to his parent side at the end of the current campaign.
In addition to the potential purchases of a few centre-backs, the Red Devils are also in the market for a natural right-back, with Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne and Barcelona’s Dani Alves being top targets.
