Manchester United will be without Ashley Young for many weeks after he forced off during their 1-1 draw against Stoke City with Louis van Gaal confirming the injury, Express reports.
The 29-year-old has seen a huge rise in form during the past few months when deployed on the left side of the midfield, slowly earning himself a first team role before his latest hamstring injury put a halt in his progression.
Van Gaal confirmed that he would be without Young for a number of matches, but is also lucky that returning Luke Shaw will be able to play the role in his absence.
He said he expects the winger to be out for many weeks while also adding that the final results of the scan will reveal the extent of the damage while also backing Shaw to be fine despite being taken off during the match.
“I’m not a doctor so we have to wait for tomorrow or the day after.
“Young, you can see is a hamstring. But Shaw is not such a problem, I think. He just needs more time on the field.”
