Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their chase to sign Neymar after he confirmed that he is currently in talks with Barcelona over a new contract, Mirror reports.
The 23-year-old was linked with a mega money move to Old Trafford during the summer as manager Louis van Gaal was keen to reinforce his attack.
Despite recent speculation that his talks with Barca have been put on hold, Neymar has come out to reveal that negotiations are under way and that the fans shouldn’t worry about his future.
“The renewal is underway. I have many years of contract here and I’ll sign, calm. The fans have to be calm,” he said.
It was believed that the Red Devils tabled an offer around the £140million region for his services in the recent window, but a move for his services failed to materialize.
The Brazil international is now expected to continue his career with the La Liga champions due to his recent revelation over a new deal as United may be forced to look elsewhere for another forward.
He has so far featured in seven league games this term, scoring eight goals while managing to register another one assists.
