Man United suffer huge blow as £32m target keen on Barcelona move

Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their chase to sign Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao, according to reports from Football 365.

The 21-year-old has constantly been linked with a switch to Old Trafford over the past few seasons, but could now snub a move to the Premier League after his latest revelations.

United failed in their attempts to sign the centre-back during the January window and are now expected to try again when the transfer market reopens in the summer.

However, Laporte admitted that he is fully focused with Bilbao at the moment, but also revealed that he has asked about a potential switch to Barca.

“For now I am with Athletic and I am focused on the season,” he said.

“Barça are the best team in the world, but for now there is nothing concrete and no-one has directly called me. I asked and I’m patiently waiting.

“As for possible contact with Barça, you have to see what happens with my club because I am under contract. Athletic have never mentioned Barça’s interest to me.”

Paris Saint-Germain have also emerged as another possible destination, with all three clubs likely to step up their chase heading into the summer.

The defender is tied down with his current side until 2019 and is believed to have his buy-out clause set at £32million.

He has already featured 35 times in all competitions this term, so far scoring five goals while providing another two assists.
