Valencia star Nicolas Otamendi has arrived in Manchester to hold talks and undergo a medical with Manchester City, according to reports from the Telegraph.
Otamendi has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, but it was Manchester United that was thought to be favourites for his signature.
However, the Citzens have moved ahead of their rivals to secure the Argentina international, with the £28.5million deal expected to be announced before their trip to Everton on Sunday.
Valencia have asked for Eliaquim Mangala on loan as an exchange for Otamendi, but City boss Manuel Pellegrini was unwilling to let go of the Frenchman following two impressive games against West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea.
With just two weeks left in the transfer window, City are also trying to tie the deal for Wolfsburg star Kevin de Bruyne, but are struggling to come to an agreement with the Bundesliga giants demanding £50million for the former Chelsea ace.
