Manchester United target Diego Godin has rejected a contract offer from Manchester City over a summer move from Atletico Madrid, according to reports from the Daily Star.
City are said to have tabled an £88,000-a-week deal for the 29-year-old after triggering his £28million release clause.
However, the centre-back looks to have turned down the offer in his efforts to continue his stay with the La Liga giants.
He hopes to remain with Atletico as he is determined to help his side lift the domestic title following their previous win back in the 2013-2014 season.
United boss Louis van Gaal was also linked with the Uruguayan international earlier in the summer as he looks to reinforce his back line ahead of the new campaign.
Godin has been a key player for his side over the past few seasons and has featured a total of 48 times in all competitions last term, scoring four goals.
