Man United target speaks out over links of Sporting Lisbon exit

Manchester United target Paulo Oliveira from Sporting Lisbon has revealed that he considers interest from the club as a good sign for his career, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 23-year-old is said to have been watched by scouts sent by manager Louis van Gaal as he steps up his efforts to reinforce his backline in the January window.

United have been linked with a host of world class centre-backs during the summer, but failed to reach an agreement with any of their targets.

Oliviera admitted that he is happy to see that he has benefited from his hard work by being linked with a move to a top side, but has played down his chance of an exit at the moment.

“It’s a good sign.

“I don’t know the truth of these claims, but it’s good to know that your work is being assessed and I have continue to work so as to not rest on my laurels.

“I’m happy to be here and I hope to win more titles.”

Despite his comments, the Red Devils are still being tipped to make a move for his services during the upcoming transfer window.

Apart from the defender, Van Gaal has also been linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte as well as Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.
