Manchester United look to have been boosted in their chase for Nathaniel Clyne, with Southampton believed to be closing in on the services of Micah Richards, according to reports from the Express.
United manager Louis van Gaal is still in search of another right-back to add to his ranks, with Clyne regarded as a top candidate for the role.
It has been suggested that the 23-year-old will be allowed to leave St Mary’s Stadium in the summer, but the Saints are still waiting on whether they can bring in another player to fill the position.
Micah Richards, currently on loan at Fiorentina from Manchester City, is set to depart the club once his contract expires, and is seen as a possible target to replace Clyne.
However, Liverpool have also joined the chase to sign the City defender as a replacement for Glen Johnson, another player who is set to leave once his contract comes to an end this summer.
Richards admitted that he wants to join a club that can offer him regular playing time, and may reject the Reds due to the possibility of having to compete with both Javier Manquillo and Jon Flanagan at right-back.
