Manchester United are reportedly eager to land Mainz forward Yoshinori Muto this month in a bid to ease their attacking woes, The Mirror report.
The Old Trafford club have had their issues in the final third this season, with an over-reliance n Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial to get goals for the Red Devils.
The likes of Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez were allowed to leave the club in the summer, leaving Louis van Gaal short of options in the striking role.
As such United are being linked with a move to sign a centre forward this month, with a host of names mentioned as possible new additions.
Muto is the latest player linked with the historic club and would be an interesting signing for the top-four hopefuls, with a £12 million offer touted.
The Japan international was linked with a move to Chelsea last year but ended up joining the modest Bundesliga side in the summer.
