Man United to land ex-Chelsea man for £49.7m in January

Manchester United are reportedly willing to splurge a massive £49.7 million to land Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben in January, Metro report.

The Red Devils are undergoing a bid to return to the glory days under Louis van Gaal, with extreme expenditure in the last number of transfer windows.

Despite this, the Red Devils have looked far from a slick side in the attacking half of the pitch this term and are widely reported to be chasing an injection of pace and purpose in January.

Robben is a favourite of Van Gaal from their time together with the Dutch national side and despite getting older is still regarded as one of the most devastating widemen in the global game.

The former Chelsea winger is said to have a frosty relationship with Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski, which could well force him to the Allianz Arena exit door.

The report suggests that United are ready to splurge almost £50 million to land the superstar and that Robben will be the club’s first January signing.
