Manchester United are looking to reignite their move to sign Athletic Bilbao star Aymeric Laporte before the summer window closes, according to reports from the Express.
The 21-year-old was believed to be one of the targets executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward went to monitor as part of his trip to help push the deal for Barcelona star Pedro.
Laporte was being targeted by United earlier in the summer, but they instead turned their attentions to Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi.
However, with Ramos extending a new deal at the Bernabeu and Otamendi now heavily linked with a move to rivals Manchester City, Woodward may need to look for alternatives.
The Bilbao centre-back currently has a £36.5million release-clause tied to his contract after recently penning a new deal, but is said to still be a candidate for the Red Devils.
He featured a total of 49 times in all competitions for his side last term and is also able to revert to a left-back if needed.
