Man United to snub high-profile coach and back LVG

Manchester United are ready to snub an approach for Pep Guardiola and will instead back Louis van Gaal with a £200 million transfer war chest in the summer, The Sun report.

The illustrious Catalan coach is in the last year of his contract with Bundesliga powerhouses and is being linked with an Allianz Arena exit.

Other Premier League sides, such as Manchester City, have also been linked with Guardiola, who has won two domestic titles with Bayern and scooped an incredible 14 trophies in four years at Barcelona.

United are much improved this season under Van Gaal despite lacking attacking inspiration, but still find themselves in the Premier League title mix.

The Red Devils are widely expected to continue the reason trend of splurging in the transfer market next summer.

The Dutch trainer is widely expected to retire at the end of next season after his contract at Old Trafford runs down.
