Man United told to forget about January signing of Southampton star

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has come out to reveal that Manchester United have no chance of signing Sadio Mane in January, Daily Star reports.

The 23-year-old emerged as a potential target for manager Louis van Gaal given his desire to reinforce his attacking flanks in the upcoming transfer window.

It is even said that United are ready to table an offer around the £20million region, but Koeman has played down the possibility of anyone leaving St Mary’s Stadium.

“They can prepare what they like to prepare,” he said.

“Don’t spend time trying to buy a player of Southampton because it’s impossible.

“We know what we like to do and how we like to do our business. That means in January nobody will leave Southampton.”

Mane was also a target for Van Gaal during the summer, but after failing to lure him to Old Trafford, he instead turned his attentions to the £36million signing of Anthony Martial from Monaco.

The Red Devils are keen to reinforce their ranks during the upcoming window given that they have registered a number of disappointing results this season.

They have already gone six games in all competitions without a single win, a factor that has now put the future of Van Gaal under serious doubt.
