Manchester United have been told that they must meet Ajax’s £18million valuation if they want to sign Jasper Cillessen, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 26-year-old has emerged as a potential target amid speculation that United star David de Gea already has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
De Gea is seen as a long-term replacement to current Madrid number one Iker Casillas, whose future at the Bernabeu is still under question.
Manager Louis van Gaal is already familiar with the Dutch goalkeeper from his time in charge of the Netherlands national team.
The keeper also revealed that the club is not likely to let him leave very easily, especially with the player penning a new deal which will expire in 2018.
“The Ajax management are going to make it really difficult when the interest becomes concrete,” he said.
“[Ajax coach] Frank de Boer has been very clear when he received questions about my transfer – he wants to block it.”
He was a regular selection for the Eredivisie giants last season, making a total of 43 appearances and keeping 16 clean sheets.
Apart from Cillessen, Van Gaal is also linked with moves for Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris as well as Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic for the role.
