Manchester United are likely to fail in their efforts to sign Southampton star Sadio Mane this January, but he is expected to leave next summer, Daily Mail reports.
Mane has been heavily linked with a move away from the St. Mary’s in recent weeks, with Chelsea reportedly also keen on the Senegal international.
The interest has therefore made the Saints try to convince Mane to sign a new contract, but the 23-year-old looks set on leaving at the end of the campaign.
The Red Devils have already had a bid of £20million for Mane turned down back in August, and any bid near that fee is likely to also be rejected.
However, an offer close to £40million will surely open the door for the club to open talks with the player, although a bid of that amount seems doubtful.
Therefore, Southampton may sell the winger to the highest bidder, which will see at least United and Chelsea battle it out for his signature.
