Manchester United have reached an agreement with Valencia over a move to sign Nicolas Otamendi, but will need to wait on an exact transfer fee, Metro reports.
The 27-year-old is now a top centre-back target for manager Louis van Gaal as he is tipped to play alongside fellow countryman Marcos Rojo in the heart of defence.
It is believed that Otamendi and his agent, Eugenio Lopez, has already agreed to the terms of the transfer, with United set to table a £25million offer in order to finalize the deal.
However, the La Liga giants are not willing to accept any bids lower than the defender’s release clause, which is currently set at £35million.
The negotiation for the Argentina international is likely to heat up in the coming weeks as Van Gaal is still keen on reinforcing other areas of his squad.
With a transfer budget of about £200million, the Dutch boss is still in the market for another striker as well as a few additional midfielders.
