Managerial farce continues at Fulham

Fulham have insisted that boss Rene Meulensteen has not had his contract terminated despite the appointment of German Felix Magath as first team manager, according to the Daily Mail.

Magath signed an 18 month contract with the West London side late on Friday night, reportedly replacing Meulensteen although the club have denied that.

The future of the former Manchester United coach, along with newly appointed Ray Wilkins and Alan Curbishley, is up in the air and despite the Cottagers not having a game this weekend an announcement is expected today.

New owner Shahid Khan spoke to the club’s official site but failed to mention Meulensteen and his role at the club.

“Our Club has shown promise in recent matches, but the fact is we haven’t won a league match since 1st January,” Khan said.

“Given our form, we can no longer merely hope that our fortunes will finally turn.

“And with 12 matches remaining and at least four points separating us from safety, we certainly can no longer post empty results. Action was required.”
