Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he think Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is the best player in the Premier League despite having a number of superstars of his own, Daily Mail reports.
The 26-year-old has now netted 17 goals in 27 appearances for the Gunners this season and will be even more motivated than before after receiving praise from his fellow countryman in the build up to his match against City this weekend.
Pellegrini said: “Every game I see him making a great effort, showing great commitment, ambition and the maturity needed to keep improving year after year.
“I’m happy for him because at this time he is the best player in English football.
“I always thought [he was going to be world class]. The only thing you could criticise him for before was that he didn’t score enough goals.
“He wasn’t a scorer. But he has improved this a lot in the last two campaigns.”
The Chilean manager will host Wenger’s squad at the Etihad this weekend and if Sanchez can help his side pick up three vital points, they will be will be well on their way to retaining a top four finish.
However, catching up to the top two will be a big task as the Gunners are currently 11 points behind City and 13 behind league leaders Chelsea.
