Manchester City boss hopeful of signing

Manuel Pellegrini's inexperience

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellgrini has claimed that he expects to be busy on transfer deadline day with a defender the main target.

Blues skipper Vincent Kompany is out for a month and Matija Nastasic is only just returning from an injury picked up in pre-season.

These issues left Pellegrini with no choice but to play midfielder Javi Garcia at centre back in their shock defeat to Cardiff City in South Wales last week.

The Chilean is now keen on adding one defender to his squad ahead of Monday night’s deadline but the new City boss has not ruled out making further signings after an unimpressive start to the season.

A few players may be on their way out of City too so it could be a busy day in Manchester tomorrow with both United and City planning big name signings.

“I expect it (some business). I hope for one defender. Maybe that is the name we want. We will see what happens,” Pellegrini told Sky Sports.
