Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is targeting a treble this season as he has three very important fixtures to play in the next seven days, one of them being the Manchester derby, Daily Star reports.
The 61-year-old manager will face Newcastle United in the Capital One cup tonight, then they host Manchester United on Sunday, and finally a vital Champions League encounter with CSKA Moscow next week.
Pellegrini is aiming to come out victorious in all three games if he is to keep hopes of a treble alive, as if City register a loss against the Magpies, they will immediately be knocked out.
He said: “I think we must win the three games. They are three competitions.
“If we win against Newcastle we will continue in the Capital One Cup. If we win the derby on Sunday, we are trying for first place in the table.
“And if we win next Wednesday we are going to take a huge step to qualifying in the Champions League.
“So they are three games that are very important and I am sure the squad is prepared to do it.”
