Manchester City are believed to be considering Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to replace Manuel Pellegrini if he does get sacked following a poor run of results despite recently beating Manchester United 1-0, Metro reports.
The current Premier League champions could part ways with the Chilean manager at the end of the season if he is unable to bring in more silverware.
Although Pellegrini picked up the Premier League as well as the Capital One cup in the previous campaign, his Champions League run has been lacking as the board could bring in Simeone in order to take them further in Europe.
This gives the current City boss a huge task of either retaining the Premier League title as well as qualifying deeper into the Champions League or risk the stability of his job at the end of this season.
The Madrid manager isn’t the only name of the club’s high profile managerial targets, but he is the most realistic approach after also naming Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho as well as Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola.
