Manchester City dealt injury blow

David Silva (Manchester City)

Manchester City are set to be without creative midfielder David Silva for around a month as the Spaniard has picked up yet another injury, as reported by BBC Sport.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini has already been without Silva for a number of games earlier in the campaign and the 27 year old will definitely miss their trip to Sunderland on Sunday as well as home games with Tottenham, Viktoria Plzen and Swansea.

Silva has also had to pull out of Spain’s squad for their friendly with South Africa next week, giving an opportunity to the likes of Santi Cazorla, Juan Mata and Koke to force their way into the side with the World Cup just seven months and a handful of games away.

The midfielder suffered his groin injury during City’s emphatic victory in the Champions League at home to CSKA Moscow this week, a result that saw Pellegrini guide City into the knock out stages of the competition.
