Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta now looks set to stay at the Etihad, despite reports linking him with a move to Italy.
The Argentine was being lined up by both Roma and Inter Milan, but after talks with new boss Pep Guardiola, is set to stay at the 2012 and 2014 Premier League champions, according to the Sun.
Zabaleta struggled with injuries last season, and only managed 13 Premier League appearances, as he fell behind Bacary Sagna in the City pecking order. However, after recent surgery, the 31-year-old has impressed the new boss in training, and now looks set to fight for the right back spot again this year.
He could potentially have further competition for the position, after City signed John Stones this week. The former Everton defender can play at right-back, although is surely going to slot in the centre at City.
Zabaleta has scored 8 Premier League goals with City, including one on that incredible day that saw them crowned Champions back in 2012, with Sergio Aguero scoring the unforgettable last minute winner.
