Manchester City fail in bid for Uruguayan

Manchester City have had an official bid for 20 year old Uruguayan Gaston Ramirez rejected according to reports in the Daily Mail.

Ramirez is currently in his first season with Serie A outfit Bologna, who themselves only signed Ramirez last summer from Penarol. Having only played 19 games for the club, manager Alberto Malesani will do all he can to resist the advances of Manchester City.

Ramirez’s agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito told Sky Italia that Roberto Mancini’s side had lodged a bid for the player. “It’s a concrete offer from Manchester City for him. I don’t know what amount but Bologna, for now, said no.”

D’Ippolito went onto say, “These are the first signs, we’ll see what happens.”

Bologna want at least €20million (£17.5m) for him.”

Mancini is looking to bolster his squad for the possibility of a Champions League adventure next season, a prospect which could appeal to Ramirez.

Bologna’s Director of Sport Carmine Longo has also revealed the club have been contacted by Inter Milan about the services of the young starlet as recently as last month. (Goal.com)

Therefore if Roberto Mancini is planning on continuing his pursuit of the youngster, he is likely to face competition from the Nerazzurri.
