Manchester City hit with injury blow

Martin Demichelis (Atletico Madrid)

Manchester City’s latest new signing Martin Demichelis has suffered an injury set back in training and could be out for two months, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Argentinean joined City less than a week ago but is already crocked after damaging his knee ligaments in training and will miss at least six weeks which includes the start of the Champions League group stage.

The former Malaga and Bayern Munich centre half was only brought to the Etihad by Manuel Pellegrini as back up to Vincent Kompany and Matija Nastasic who have both suffered injury woes already this season.

Joleon Lescott has been the main defender for City so far this season and midfield man Javi Garcia has had to fill in at times, leaving Pellegrini in a less than ideal situation.

Demichelis’ blow has coincided with Kompany being ruled out until October although some good news for the City boss comes in the shape of Micah Richards who is set to return after the international break.
