Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has flown home from the side’s pre-season tour of the Far East due to injury, The Daily Mail report.
The Belgium international is said to have suffered a calf knock in Friday night’s friendly win over Arsenal, in what could be a relapse of an old injury that kept him on the sidelines for parts of last season.
Kompany is thought to have flown back to England for proper treatment and medical assistance, as the Premier League champions look to have their talisman fit and ready to play for the start of the 2012-13 campaign.
The skipper signed a new six-year deal at the Etihad Stadium last week, but City are believed to be looking for a new central defender to add strength in depth.
