John Stones is set to be at the centre of another summer transfer battle, between the two Manchester clubs, according to the Daily Star.
After Manchester City were snubbed by Aymeric Laporte, the reports have suggested that Pep Guardiola will challenge Jose Mourinho head on for the £50 million signature of John Stones. The Everton defender was pursued by Mourinho when at Chelsea last summer and it looks set to be another saga that rumbles on long into the depths of the window.
The Guardiola and Mourinho rivalry was always going to be spicy and everything about this saga looks like the perfect way to start off two of football’s biggest names reunion.
Stones is thought to be a potential long-term successor to Vincent Kompany at Manchester City, whilst Mourinho will be looking for a player who can partner either new signing Eric Bailly or the in-form Chris Smalling next season.
