Manchester City rubbish sale talk

Manchester City have rubbished claims that Gareth Barry could leave the club.

Roberto Mancini has recently stated an interest in Napoli’s Argentina international striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, and rumours have emerged that the England international midfielder could be used as a makeweight in a potential transfer.

The South American’s agent, Giorgio De Giorgis, who also represents the Eastlands manager, stated that the former Aston Villa player could move to Naples in a swap deal, but the Premier League club have been quick to deny the claims.

“Mr Giorgis is not mandated by the football club to deal with transfers in or out of Manchester City. Furthermore, there is no intention to sell Gareth Barry, who remains a valued member of the team,” a club spokesman stated on the team’s official website.

The 30-year-old has made over 60 appearances for the Manchester club since joining in 2009.
