Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has revealed that he believes his team’s rising form can eventually led them to overtaking Chelsea to the Premier League title, Daily Star reports.
With the Blues yet to play their match, City are now level on points with the league leaders while Zabaleta hopes Stoke City can cause problems for Jose Mourinho’s side.
He said: “In the way that we want the team to play, we were probably lacking intensity and concentration in some of the games and it cost us a few points.
“Now we are a solid team and the game against Palace was another clean sheet. We know when we defend like that, we have the quality to score goals and win the game.
“It is eight wins in a row. That shows the spirit that this team has at the moment compared with two months ago.
“The season is so long and you never know. That’s why consistency was so important to reduce the gap.
“We are now on the same points, they have a game in hand. They will go to Stoke on Monday night and we will see.
“We knew that even if Chelsea were eight points ahead, we needed to keep the confidence. We have improved as a team and we have to keep playing at that level.”
