Manchester City are trying to convince James Milner to sign a new contract with the club in light of speculation that he is being linked with a move to Liverpool, Daily Mail reports.
The 29-year-old is believed to be unhappy about his limited playing time under Manuel Pellegrini, but may soon change his mind after being given a bigger role in recent weeks.
Milner, a player who is often deployed on the flanks, was selected as an emergency striker after Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, and Stevan Jovetic were all ruled out through injury.
Although he is unlikely to retain his new attacking role, Pellegrini is still hoping the England international will decide to snub a switch to Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers is said to trying to lure the winger over by offering him a more secure role in his struggling squad as City will need to decide whether to cash in or risk losing him for free.
