David De Gea last night vowed to stay at Old Trafford this summer despite reported interest from Barcelona, reports The Sun.
De Gea came under huge scrutiny when moving to Old Trafford with a host of pundits questioning the quality of the Madrid-born star.
However the Spanish keeper, who has just been named in the Spanish squad for their upcoming friendly double header, had reiterated his commitment to Manchester United.
“I know things have been said and written but I have a contract. I’m very well in Manchester.” he told The Sun
“It is not just my name that appears. At Barca, Valdes is still the keeper and Madrid is my city, one day I’d like to return. ”
“But now I hope to stay in Manchester for a long time and win a lot of titles.” he added.
De Gea also thanked manager Sir Alex Ferguson for putting his faith in him and helping him to live with the pressure and criticism that playing in the Premier League brings..
He added: “Sir Alex is more than a manager. He controls everything in the team. He’s a father for all those who come to the club. For that he is the best.”
