West Ham United starlet Reece Oxford has gathered interest from Manchester United as well as Arsenal after he was named as a substitute for his team’s Capital One Cup match against Sheffield United, Daily Mail reports.
Despite being only 15-years-old, he was already a key member of the Hammer’s Under-18 side in the previous campaign and has also played for the Under-21 squad on two occasions as well.
In order to keep hold of the West Ham centre-back, it is believed that Sam Allardyce will promote Oxford to the senior side so that he feels that he has a larger role to play, warding off heavy interest from other teams.
A host of Premier League sides including Manchester United and Arsenal have sent scouts to keep an eye on the starlet, with Louis van Gaal keen on adding some younger players to his squad.
Club co-owner David Sullivan also stated that he is very unhappy at the fact that larger sides have the opportunity to poach away all his best young talents.
“It almost makes you give up on having an academy if they can come in and nick your best 15-year-old. What’s the point?,” Sullivan said.
