Manchester United are still awaiting results to the extent of Phil Jones’ injury after he was forced out of his club’s recent 3-1 win over Burnley, Express reports.
The 22-year-old was only able to feature for five minutes before picking up an injury to his knee and replaced by Chris Smalling, who later went on to score a brace for his side.
Jones has been in and out of the squad due to a number of knocks he picked up throughout the current campaign, but has featured in 10 out of United’s 12 matches prior to his latest setback.
Louis van Gaal revealed that he still doesn’t know how long the centre-back will be out, as he admitted that he fears for the worst.
“But for Phil Jones, I fear. I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see tomorrow,” he said.
In addition to the English defender picking up a knock, new signing Daley Blind was also forced off but Van Gaal played down the extent of his injury, saying he was suffering from a headache caused by a collision during an aerial challenge.
“Daley Blind has a headache and maybe tomorrow it is better. I don’t think Blind will be out for next Monday’s game.”
