Manchester United star Phil Jones is set to extend his stay at the club by signing a new deal this week, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
With only one year left on his current contract, the United hierarchy were unsure whether Jones would commit his future to the club amid transfer plans to sign a new centre-back.
However, the England international seems set to end the uncertainty surrounding his future and pen an extension worth £80,000-a-week to remain at Old Trafford.
This will come as a big boost for the Red Devils as Jones is one of the most versatile players in Louis van Gaal’s roster, being able to play at right-back as well as in midfield.
The 23-year-old struggled with injuries for a majority of last season and will be hoping for a more consistent run of games in the new campaign.
The former Blackburn Rovers starlet made 22 league appearances, scoring no goals.
