Manchester United star Wayne Rooney is set to miss the rest of the season following an injury he picked up against Everton during the weekend, according to reports from the Express.
With only a few minutes of the game remaining, the United captain limped off the field with a knee problem in a match which saw the Toffees score three goals without reply.
But the loss of Rooney could be even worse that the 3-0 defeat, as the Red Devils hope to hold onto the final Champions League spot heading into the last four games of the season.
The England international has already been ruled out of this weekend’s home clash with West Bromwich Albion, but after undergoing evaluation from the medical staff, he could also miss games against Arsenal and Hull City.
Man United have however been boosted by Tuesday night’s midweek clash between fifth place Liverpool and Hull City, with the Tigers winning 1-0 to keep Louis van Gaal’s men seven points ahead of the Reds.
