Manchester United closing in on double swoop

Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini

Manchester United boss David Moyes is closing in on the double swoop for Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, according to the Express.

Moyes angered the Toffees board and supporters when he made a combined £25million bid for the Everton star men last week but it appears United have upped the ante and placed a tempting £40million offer on the table.

Having struggled in the transfer market this summer, Moyes is now becoming desperate to land key players and he looks to bulk up his midfield as well as sign a striker and a defender.

The Merseyside club struggle to compete with the big boys financially and so a record £40million income must be tempting for owner Bill Kenwright who always does what is best for the club in the long run.

The issue that Everton have is that they now have just over 24 hours to replace their best two players before the transfer deadline.
