Manchester United have confirmed that young striker Will Keane has left the club, joining Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on loan for the remainder of the season, Daily Star reports.
Keane was also out loaned out to Wigan and Queens Park Rangers in the previous campaign, however despite playing in the English second tier, failed to score during his 14 appearances.
Under new manager Louis van Gaal the 22-year-old had the first half of the season to impress his boss, but the youngster only managed to appear on the bench one time all season in a home game against Stoke.
Yet he is confident he can succeed, and that he is willing to play in a deeper role if necessary.
“I can play a bit deeper and link play up or play higher up as a lone striker,” he said recently. “I’ve got a bit of flexibility there.
“I don’t really have a preference. I can do both.
“Sometimes I enjoy playing up front on my own, just leading the line, but also there are so many top strikers here, it’s good to play up front with someone as well.”
His twin brother, Michael Kane, left the Old Trafford club this past summer, joining Premier League strugglers Burnley on loan but signed a permanent deal at the beginning of the current transfer window.
This is however very different from another Man United youngster in James Wilson, who managed to score his first league goal after coming on as a substitute against Queens Park Rangers last weekend.
