Manchester United full-back Guillermo Varela is close to joining Frankfurt on loan.
That’s according to German Newspaper Kicker, who claim the Bundesliga side will have the option to buy the defender next summer.
The 23-year-old has struggled to make an impression in a United shirt, appearing in just four Premier League fixtures last campaign. And after being told to train with the reserves by new boss Jose Mourinho, it appears his days at the Red Devils could be over.
The Daily Mail believe Varela is just one of a host of players being warned over the future under their new manager, with Tyler Blackett joining Varela in the reserves. Juan Mata, Daley Blind and Marcus Rojo have all been told they will need to impress the former Chelsea boss if they want to stay at Old Trafford.
Varela played three times for United in the Fa Cup, as well as making three appearances in the UEFA Europa League.
