Bryan Robson believes that Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez would be a great fit at his old club Manchester United.

The Chile international’s future at the Emirates remains uncertain as he is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners.

The 28-year-old performed well this season, scoring 30 goals and producing 13 assists in all competitions, but he was visibly frustrated a number of times with Arsenal’s performances on the pitch.

United lacked firepower in the recent campaign, scoring 54 altogether in the Premier League, which was 32 fewer than top scorers Tottenham Hotspur.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was their main source of goals as he finished the season as the club’s highest scorer on 28 in all competitions, with Juan Mata next on the list with 10.

It is unlikely that Ibrahimovic will have the same impact next season as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury, which could result in him not taking up the option of a further year at Old Trafford.

Robson, who won two league titles across a 13-year spell at United, believes that Mourinho should consider moving for unsettled Sanchez this summer.

The Daily Mail quotes Robson as saying:

“His character is right, he's a tough player, he's really skilful. He works hard for the team, can score and create goals. When you put that package into one, he's the type that we would like here.

"Whether we can achieve that or Mourinho thinks the same – people always have different opinions on individual players about whether they're the sort you'd like."
