Manchester United are reportedly in talks regarding a summer move for Bayern Munich ace Jerome Boateng, according to the Express.
United have been heavily linked with a plethora of defenders in recent weeks as club manager Louis van Gaal scours the market for a quality centre-back.
The likes of Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels, Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi, and Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane were all speculated to be under Van Gaal’s radar, but it seems the Dutchman has eyed Bayern’s Boateng as the perfect candidate.
And the Red Devils aren’t wasting any time, approaching Bayern to begin discussions over a potential summer move.
Boateng already has experience playing in the Premier League with Manchester City, but the Germany international was seen as surplus to requirements at the Etihad and was sold to Bayern in 2011.
But since then, the 26-year-old has cemented himself at the heart of the Bavarian’s defence as well as the national side, winning the Champions League in 2013 and then the World Cup a year later.
