Manchester United manager promises to give flop more important club role

Louis van Gaal is believed to have told Manchester United flop Marouane Fellaini that he would be given a larger role at the club despite the player being linked with a move to Napoli, Daily Star reports.

The 26-year-old central midfielder has failed to make an impact at Old Trafford ever since his big money switch from Everton after then manager David Moyes was said to have made a £27.5million panic buy.

Currently considered a flop, the Belgium international has failed to find the net the entire last season with United ready to cut their losses by planning to offload him during the summer.

However, it is said that Van Gaal has held talks with Fellaini to discuss his future role and could make him a more important member of the squad.

He is still sidelined for another three weeks so his new role with the Red Devils is yet to be determined as the only sure thing is that he will need to fight for his place in the starting line up against new additions Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, and Daley Blind.
