Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera could be sidelined for quite a while after scans show he fractured his ribs during the 2-1 victory over West Ham United, Skysports reports.
The 25-year-old only recently returned from an ankle injury which kept him out of action three for matches and looks to once again set to miss out on a few more.
United’s medical staff have stated that they will monitor his condition as they hope he could make a quick recover and step back into the club’s midfield.
Herrera has commented on his latest setback by reassuring the fans that he will be trying his best to get back to full fitness.
“A real shame this injury, but now’s not the time to feel sorry for myself. I’m already working to be back as soon as possible!”
With Everton coming up at the weekend, this news has added to Louis van Gaal’s injury woes, as the Red Devils star joins Ashley Young, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard, and Phil Jones on the treatment table.
To make matters worse, the Dutch boss will be without his captain Wayne Rooney, who is suspended for the next three games, meaning he will miss the match against his boyhood club.
