Manchester United will need to pay £14million to sign Besiktas star Mario Gomez, according to reports from the Express.
Gomez is currently with the Turkish side on loan from Fiorentina, but the Germany international has recently been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Liverpool were previously keen on Gomez’s goalscoring services, but now United manager Louis van Gaal is targeting the former Bayern Munich star to help fix the club’s lacklustre attack.
The Red Devils have only managed to score four goals in their past six games, with three of them ending in disappointing 0-0 scorelines.
This has seen Van Gaal criticized by fans and even former players, which could ultimately lead to the Dutchman bringing in new faces in the upcoming transfer market.
And Besiktas president Fikret Orman revealed how much United will need to pay in order to sign Gomez, telling Turkish radio Radyospor: “At the end of the season if any club wants Gomez they will have to offer €20m million or more I mean we are talking about a German international striker who has proven himself countless times at the highest level.”
The 30-year-old is having a fine season in the Super Lig, scoring eight goals in 11 league games.
