Ashley Young has been told by Jose Mourinho that he is in his plans for next season and he will remain at the club this summer, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.
Mourinho is looking to overhaul the squad that he has inherited from Louis van Gaal and, although Ashley Young has been on the fringes of the squad, it has been reported that Mourinho has afforded the former England international assurances over his future.
The Portuguese manager tends to favour experienced players at his clubs and, with Michael Carrick having signed a new contract, he looks set to continue this theme.
Ashley Young had been a pivotal player towards the final seasons of Alex Ferguson’s reign but he tended to be used as a versatile squad option – sometimes filling in at full-back – under Louis van Gaal.
West Ham are reportedly one club who have been interested in Young, but Mourinho is adamant he will still be a Manchester United player next season.
