Manchester United are planning to make a double swoop for Real Madrid stars Pepe and Fabio Coentrao, Metro reports.
The Red Devils have been targeting several defenders lately after numerous injuries to their back-line, with the Madrid pair now linked witha move to Old Trafford.
Man United boss Louis van Gaal has been given additional funds to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window and after the club spent more than £150million during the summer, it seems price will not be an issue for the Red Devils hierarchy.
Van Gaal’s defence is seen as the squad’s weak point and the Dutch manager is keen to bring a powerful world class centre-back in Pepe, while also interested in luring team-mate Coentrao as the perfect left-back competition for summer signing Luke Shaw.
Shaw has been struggling for fitness since his £30million move from Southampton and the addition of Coentrao will give the opportunity for the 19-year-old to develop at his age.
The price to sign the duo has been suggested at £30million, which is the same fee Raphael Varane has been linked with to Chelsea.
