Manchester United are ready to sell Juan Mata for £20million this January, Express reports.
The attacking midfielder was purchased for a then club record £37.1million only at the beginning of the year, but United are prepared accept £17.1million less when the transfer market reopens.
Spanish sources reveal that Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal is still unconvinced by Mata’s abilities, despite the former Chelsea star scoring the winner after coming off the bench against Crystal Palace during the weekend.
Juventus and Atletico Madrid are two clubs that have been linked with the 26-year-old , with Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri keen on signing a ‘trequartista’ for his formation.
And both sides will be able to pay the £20million price tag to Man United, where Mata has only managed to complete 90 minutes three times.
Mata has however expressed his desire to return to his homeland, which gives Atletico manager Diego Simeone the upper hand in the chase.
Former club Valencia could also be his destination after the La Liga club received extra cash from new owner Peter Lim.
Mata has made only nine appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals.
