Manchester United have reignited their interest in Wolfburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez and may have to battle for his signature with current Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Daily Star reports.
The 22-year-old was a target for Louis van Gaal during the previous transfer window, but turned away after Southampton agreed the £31.5million signing of Luke Shaw so that he could focus on his midfield troubles.
However, with United’s midfield situation finally starting to look up, the club’s defence has been hit hard with a host of injury crisis prompting the Dutch manager to consider another attempt to sign Rodriguez.
Despite already have Marcos Rojo and Shaw capable of occupying the left back role, Van Gaal wants to add more stability with the additional of the Swiss international.
This could mean Rojo will be given a more central role in light of the current defensive problems at Old Trafford, freeing space for the Bundesliga star to slot into.
Bayern have also joined the race for the Bundesliga defender, with Wolfburg believed to have placed a £25million price tag on his head.
